WooCapture — Privacy Policy

WooCapture is a browser extension that captures screenshots and screen recordings at your explicit request, uploads them to our server, and gives you a shareable link. This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

• Captures you create — the screenshots and screen recordings (including microphone/system audio and webcam, only when you enable them) that you choose to capture.
• The page URL of the tab you were on when you captured, shown on the share page for your reference.
• Optional text you add — notes, comments, and a password if you choose to protect a capture.
• An anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated and stored locally in your browser to group your uploads when you are not signed in.
• Account (optional) — if you create an account, your email address and a securely hashed password, used to let your captures follow you across devices.

How we use it

• To host your captures and serve them via the shareable link you generate.
• To show basic engagement on the share page (view count, watch-completion for videos, and comments).
• We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it for any purpose unrelated to providing this capture-and-share service.

Sharing & visibility

Anyone with a capture's link can view it, unless you set a password. Comments posted on a share page are visible to anyone who can view that page. Choose what you capture and share accordingly.

Storage & retention

Captures are stored on our server (AWS, EC2). They are automatically deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you set a shorter expiry. Password-protected captures are gated behind a password check.

Permissions

• activeTab / scripting — to inject the capture UI into the current tab, only when you start a capture.
• storage — to keep your anonymous device ID and preferences in your browser.
• notifications — to tell you when a capture can't run on a restricted page.
• host access to capture.wooand.com — to upload your captures to our server.

Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Password protection uses a hashed password and a signed unlock cookie.

Your choices

Captures expire automatically. To request earlier removal of a specific capture, contact us at privacy@wooand.com.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date above.
